Cooking Inn Style Reviews
"...Ms. Leichter-Saxby has combined in this volume a collection of carefully chosen recipes, heartwarming anecdotes and glimpses into the countryside and character of each inn she presents to her readers ... Cooking Inn Style is much more than a cookbook, it is a sincere tribute to hosts and innkeepers who have touched the author's life, an inspiration to readers and cooks who value the great civilizing influence of the hospitality that (fortunately) has found its way from the Old World to the new.
For those who have ties with the countries and states represented, the book is likely to stir memories and longings to return. For others, it may inspire a first-time visit. For all, I think it is a reminder that the preparing and serving of food to one's guests is an extension of hospitality that makes people feel welcome, wanted and loved. Honoring the guest is surely a tradition that needs to be perpetuated in a world that increasingly isolates neighbor from neighbor.
Cooking Inn Style is a pleasure to look at, a joy to read and a catalyst to prepare some memorable meals for family and friends."

"Oh, to be in England now that Heléne Leichter-Saxby has been there ... in her book, Cooking Inn Style, she has captured the cozy soul of the British and New England country inn, including some nifty recipes...like her parallel explanations of the differences between American and English inns and languages. Jolly good book!"

"In this charming volume, Ms. Leichter-Saxby shares with us her love of the personal sense of hospitality she finds in British and New England Country Inns and shares a collection of recipes from many of those special inns. A self-professed Anglophile, the author takes us on a recipe tour through Country Inns of England, Ireland, Wales and New England ... Delightful sketches of antique cooking tools appear throughout the book.
The recipes themselves are unusual, varied and delicious. Ms. Leichter-Saxby's accompanying personal narrative makes them taste even better. We learn in one segment 'How To Make A Proper Pot of Tea' and find recipes to accompany 'High Tea" service such as small, elegant cookies, tarts, tea sandwiches and a delectable sweet called 'Chocolate Covered Brandied Cherries in Marzipan'! ... She includes a comparison of Imperial and American weights and measures which is helpful in converting the original British recipes.
We know you will thoroughly enjoy Cooking Inn Style and thank Heléne for sharing her love of Country Inns with all her readers."
